Victorian Scottish Silver And Agate Brooch

This is a Scottish Victorian agate and silver brooch, often referred to as a Scottish pebble brooch. The piece features beautifully banded grey-blue agate stones, meticulously cut and inlaid into a circular sterling silver frame. The agates are arranged in alternating geometric panels—diamond and shield shapes—with fine engraved silver detailing around each setting.

The craftsmanship and stone arrangement suggest it dates from the mid-to-late 19th century (circa 1860–1880), a time when Scottish agate jewellery was highly fashionable, especially during Queen Victoria’s reign. The brooch likely originates from a Scottish workshop such as those in Edinburgh or Aberdeen, which were known for producing high-quality pebble jewellery.
